Don’t Stop Fighting—a Coronavirus Cloth Mask with a Strong Message of Resilience, Courage, and Hope
Welcome to the Live Great Movement blog series called Stories of Greatness. Each week, we highlight someone who is applying the principles of the Live Great Movement to make a positive impact on their life and the lives of others in their community.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID19). As Mr. Fred Rogers is quoted saying, “To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words, “Look for the helpers. You’ll always find people who are helping.” Today, I’m honored to share a story of one such helper. His name is Rob Scott.
Meet Rob Scott
Let me introduce you to Rob Scott. Rob Scott is the founder of Legend’s Boxing. Boxing has been one of Rob’s passions since he was a teenager. Rob turned his passion into a thriving boxing gym franchise that is making a positive impact on communities around the country and the world.
The Tribe Effect
The minute you walk into one of his boxing gyms you feel a sense of belonging. Rob calls it the tribe effect. Rob Scott said, “At Legends Boxing, you are part of a tribe, family, community. You are part of something special.”
The tribe effect is a huge part of the success of Legends Boxing. So it’s not surprising that during these difficult times impacting the world with Coronavirus (COVID19), that Rob Scott and his team are doing something special to give back with a powerful message printed on a cloth mask—Don’t Stop Fighting!
Don’t Stop Fighting
Rob and his Legends Boxing team wanted to do something to help communities. Rob said, “We knew we could help. We knew we could help the communities near our boxing gyms, so we stopped making boxing gear and turned our manufacturing strengths into making cloth masks to help protect and limit the spread of Coronavirus (COVID19).”
“We have the first round of cloth masks in our hands and have thousands more coming,” said Rob. The cloth masks come with a powerful message—Don’t Stop Fighting. I asked Rob, “Why the message of don’t stop fighting?” He told me, “I have heard so many stories of heartbreak, loss, tragedy, and discouragement because of the Coronavirus. I had one clear thought and message come to my mind—Don’t Stop Fighting. I know what it is like to have loss and during those times I remind myself to not stop fighting. So we designed the cloth masks with this message printed on front to echo a message of resilience, courage, and hope to those who wear and see the masks.”
Turn Your Ideas to Action
Rob is a great example of turning ideas into action. He had a dream of a boxing gym that would help transform communities and he is achieving that dream with Legends Boxing. He had an idea to make cloth masks to help community workers and residents in need and he is making that idea a reality. What ideas do you have to make a positive impact on your community? Start small, but turn your ideas into action.
We Will Overcome
Don’t Stop Fighting! We will overcome this difficult time. And like Fred Rogers mother said, “Look for the helpers, you’ll always find the people who are helping.” Thanks again Rob for being one of those helpers and inspiring us to find our way to help.
Also, remember this simple truth—you were born for greatness. You were born with a unique set of talents and gifts to make a positive impact where you live. It’s time to unleash your greatness for good.
If Not You, Who?
Just like Rob who is using his resources to make thousands of cloth masks, there is someone in your city that needs your help, your talents, your passions, and your skills. As you unleash your greatness where you live, you'll help others do the same. Your influence of goodness will spread through your community and will inspire other communities around the world to join together to solve many of their most difficult problems where they live. You are born for greatness.
